The Ice Cream Diet: How I lost 50lbs in 6 months eating candy and ice cream every night
I got into my 40s in the worst shape of my life. I had sleep apnea, my joints and back hurt, I had serious bathroom issues, I stress ate, and my clothes didn’t fit right. Once, my son took my picture from behind and I wondered, “Who is that big back”?! Me. After a health scare in June 2024, I decided to change my lifestyle and eating habits. I was 238lbs (sometimes touching 243lbs after heavy meals), and I went down to 186lbs in 6 months. Like a lot of you readers, I tried many things to lose weight, registered at the gym, hired a weight loss and diet coach (who helped a bit), and even used a GLP-1 medication until it became unaffordable (who has $800 a month for that?!). However, like many of you, the results were short-lived and the weight always came back with a vengeance (why does that always happen? Chapter 2 explains it). It felt hopeless at times to even try.
Most of you won’t learn anything new about dieting in this book. You’ll see the same terms used here, caloric deficit, one-meal-a-day (OMAD), eat in moderation, carbs is the enemy, ketosis, etc. However, you’ll discover some new and critical insights as I did, such as your unknown psychological agreements (and there are many) with food, learning about eatinghow humans are designed, the true function of time in diet, and much more. Within the pages of this book, you’ll discover that you have binding contracts with food you’re not even aware of. Yet these contracts control your life and make it difficult to maintain your desired and ideal weight. For example, why do you have to eat those meals during the holidays?! Must you have cake on birthdays?! When you go to a fancy restaurant, do you have to eat a 3-course meal to validate? Our cultural habits, social norms, and obligations impact our weight goals without us even thinking about it. It’stime to break up the toxic relationship and this book will show you how. In addition to this, there are 7 key lessons you'lllearn that will help you lose weight and not be miserable while doing it.
I know the title is catchy and may even sound ridiculous, but it’s the truth; I lost weight eating candy and ice cream every single night. I didn’t just do that alone, of course. Within this book, I’ll discuss my steps to losing weight while enjoying treats. After doing my research and gaining some insights, I cracked the code to lose weight. Buy this book to find out how.
So did I also exercise? While on my weight loss journey, I added light exercises every morning. Nothing serious, just enough to break a sweat before I showered and got ready for the day. Unfortunately, 3 months into my diet, I sustained unbearable shin splints, and could not continue my exercise. This didn’t impact my weight loss journey in any waybecause “diet is for weight loss, and exercise is for fitness and physique”.
The one thing I will say this book can’t help you with is making up your mind. Nobody can do that except you. When I was ready, I decided, by myself, one day and didn’t even talk to anyone about it. You’ll have to do the same. This isn't a solo trip though. You'll have me as your guide. I hope that the information in this book will help you decide and take action. In addition to the book, I've also included helpful resources to help you on your journey. They include:
- Recipes: I ate delicious new meals that helped me lose weight consistently. From snacks to entrees to my daily desserts, I share all my delicious recipes here.
- Grocery List: Believe it or not, I didn't break the bank eating to lose weight. I'll show you what I buy frequently, and how you can save money shopping to lose weight.
- Tracker: Measuring is crucial. I measured every day and kept track of everything. This helped me make the necessary adjustments. The tracker will help you stay the course and not veer off.
- ... and more
Good luck! You've got this!
